Arthur F. Hennessey, Jr. Scholarship
The Arthur F. Hennessey, Jr. Scholarship Award was established over forty years ago in memory of this West Falmouth citizen who gave his life in Vietnam on April 19, 1965. Funds were donated in his memory and added to over the years by individuals interested in providing financial aid to deserving students seeking higher education. Due to Arthur F. Hennessey, Jr. family’s history in West Falmouth, applicants must reside in West Falmouth or have strong ties to the community of West Falmouth and attend a high school in the town of Falmouth. This scholarship may be awarded to one or two students.
When the Massachusetts Bay Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century disbanded in 2006, the chapter asked the West Falmouth Library to assume stewardship of their scholarship and to award this annual scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a Falmouth High School senior who exhibits academic excellence, participates in school and community activities, and is in financial need.
Applications for the Arthur F. Hennessey, Jr. and the Colonial Scholarship are available in February of each year at the Guidance Offices at Falmouth High Schools or at the Library. Eligible students must reside in Falmouth, be a senior in high school and attend a high school in the town of Falmouth.
Deadline for applications is April 1st each year.
