static1.squarespace.com The next Calliope Poetry Reading will be staged Sunday, March 8th, from 3 to 5 pm. There is a $5 suggested donation to fund the poets’ stipend. Featured poets include Danielle Legros Georges, John L. Holgerson, and Sandra Storey. There will be a limited open mic and sign up is at 2:45.

Danielle Legros Georges is the author of the poetry collection, “Maroon”. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. A professor at Lesley University, Danielle’s specialties include arts and education, contemporary American poetry, African-American poetry, Caribbean literature and literary translation. She was a recent recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship in Poetry. Appointed Boston’s Poet Laureate in 2014, Danielle lives in Dorchester.

John L. Holgerson’s full-length collection, “Broken Borders” and his new chapbook, “Unnecessary Tattoo and Other Stains on a Stainless Steel Heart” were published by Wasteland Press. His work has appeared in Modern English Tanka, Shadow Quill Poetry and Page & Spine.

Sandra Storey’s first book of poetry, “Every State Has Its Own Light”, a finalist for the May Swenson Poetry Award, was released in November, 2014 by Word Poetry. Her poems have appeared in the New York Quarterly, Friction (UK), THELMA and New Millennium Writings. She is a member of the Jamaica Pond Poets.
