Concert is still on for tonight! Monday, February 15 at 7 pm is the “Songs of the Sea” concert with John Yankee, at the Library. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Advanced ticket reservations are encouraged by calling 508-548-4709.
The concert addresses the waters in many ways, with songs of sailing and fishing, shanties and sing-alongs, a tribute to fresh water lakes, all interspersed with hornpipes, reels, and humor. Special guests include the 8-member men’s chorus from Falmouth Academy directed by John Yankee.
A dynamic and versatile musician, John Yankee is artistic director of the Falmouth Chorale, music director of the Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra, director of music at John Wesley United Methodist Church, choral director at Falmouth Academy, and founding artistic director of the Cape Cod Children’s Chorus. Since coming to the Cape in September 2007, he has been active in many other musical venues as a singer and performer on the hammered dulcimer and keyboards. In addition, he coaches ensembles, teaches privately and leads a variety of concerts, workshops and community sings.
