ssnov07Join us on Sunday, June 22 at 4pm as the Solstice Singers accompanied by members of Passacaglia, present “A Book of Hours.” Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

Based on the illuminated manuscripts that comprise the well-known medieval prayer book “Les Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry,” the program will follow the seasonal events of life in earlier times as depicted in this particular work of art, with songs and readings for each month of the year. The illustrations accompany the traditional schedule of prayers for each hour of the day.

The Solstice Singers are known for their presentations which coincide with the solstices, summer and winter, performing in full costume with set designs of their creation. They will be joined by members of the local early music group Passacaglia, playing on period instruments. The Solstice Singers are the only singing group in Falmouth to perform by memory in cohesive programs of music with appropriate segments of drama and dance, which are geared towards entertainment and education.
