The West Falmouth Library offers two Scholarships, The Arthur F. Hennessey, Jr. Memorial Scholarship and The Colonial Scholarship to local high school seniors pursuing a college education. Applications are available in the school guidance offices and at the West Falmouth Library. The deadline for the completed applications is April 1, 2017. The Scholarship Committee recommends each applicant include a statement of what he or she felt was challenging and memorable during their tenure in high school, what they wish to study during their college years and what they would like to accomplish in the future.
The Arthur F. Hennessey Jr. Memorial Scholarship is offered to one or two deserving students who have demonstrated academic achievement and participation in school and community activities. When possible, this scholarship is given to a West Falmouth resident, as it honors Arthur Hennessey, a West Falmouth citizen, who gave his life in Vietnam on April 19, 1965. The recipient may attend any of the schools in the area but must live in Falmouth.
The Colonial Scholarship is offered to a Falmouth High School senior who has demonstrated academic achievement and participation in school and community activities. In addition, the donors of this scholarship require that the recipient show a real financial need in order to pursue their education.
Donations to the Scholarship Fund are always welcome! Make checks payable to The West Falmouth Library Scholarship Fund.
