SUMMARY:AT CAPACITY Tea Time Book Club – So Far Gone by Jess Walter
DESCRIPTION:This meeting is full. The Tea Time Book Club meets once a month on the third Thursday at 6 p.m. Each time we meet, we’ll enjoy tea and take some time to catch up and get to know each other. We’ll discuss the book of the month and everyone will have an opportunity to recommend a book for the group to vote on for upcoming months. Due to popular demand, we have added an Extra Cup of Tea Time Book Club the fourth Thursdays at 6pm. They will discuss the same titles as the original Tea Time.\nThe selection for the May 21 meeting is the novel So Far Gone by Jess Walter, finalist for the Aspen Words Literary Prize. From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Beautiful Ruins—and in the propulsive spirit of Charles Portis’ True Grit—comes a hilarious, empathetic, and brilliantly provocative adventure through life in modern America, about a reclusive journalist forced back into the world to rescue his kidnapped grandchildren.\n“A warm, funny, loving novel. . . . It’s an American original.”—Ann Patchett, New York Times bestselling author of Tom Lake\n“Searing and sublime … Walter is a slyly adept social critic, and has clearly invested his protagonist with all of the outrage and heartbreak he himself feels about the dark course our world has taken … What gets us all through … are novels like this one.” Leigh Haber, Los Angeles Times\n \n \n
