SUMMARY:Carmen Staaf and Allison Miller
DESCRIPTION:Falmouth Jazz and West Falmouth Library present Carmen Staaf and Allison Miller, at the library on Sunday, December 6⋅4-5 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person.\nPiano and drums—stripped down, spontaneous, and full of possibility. Acclaimed pianist Carmen Staaf and drummer Allison Miller come together for a rare duo performance that’s as daring as it is deeply musical. Both celebrated bandleaders and collaborators on the New York jazz scene, they bring a powerful sense of interplay, trust, and creativity to this intimate setting. Part of our Women Who Lead series, this concert showcases two top-tier artists redefining what a jazz duo can be—bold, conversational, and completely alive in the moment.\nCarmen Staaf is an acclaimed pianist and composer recognized for her versatility and depth in jazz and improvised music. Born and raised in New York City, Staaf developed her musical foundation through twelve years of classical piano study before immersing herself in jazz and world music traditions. She earned dual degrees in Anthropology from Tufts University and Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory, and quickly became one of the youngest faculty members ever hired by Berklee College of Music, joining their piano department in 2005.\nPraise for Allison Miller:\n“…Miller’s craftiness as a percussionist is met by her ingenuity as a composer and group conceptualist.\n– The New Yorker\n“Ms. Miller is a drummer, bandleader and composer with an aesthetic of limber poise, drawn at once to brisk maneuvers and deep grooves.”-The New York Times\nPurchase Tickets\n \n
