POSTPONED The Joys of Nature Travel Talk: New Zealand

This event is being postponed until a later date.  We welcome naturalist, wildlife educator and photographer Joy Marzolf back to the Library for another exciting talk! “The Joys of Nature Travel Talk, New Zealand: Penguins, Parrots and Pods” is on Thursday, February 13th at 3pm. $10 per person.

New Zealand is home to many rare birds and marine mammals including the comical yellow-eyed penguin. Watch and listen as the yellow-eyed penguin returns from the ocean to feed its chick and the Antipodes Island parrot demonstrates “looks, personality and talent.” Not to be outdone, rare New Zealand sea lions make quite an impression as they interact on isolated South Island beaches, pods of rare Hector’s dolphins frolic near coastal shores and dusky dolphins play with kayakers as they travel deep into the fjords of southern New Zealand. Join us for sights and sounds of animal personalities from this amazing country.

Joy has loved animals from the time she was a child growing up in New England and she would always take advantage of any outdoor time to explore nature. Now, she still loves to explore, but also to share her knowledge about wildlife, wildlife photography and nature in general. In addition to a BA in Biology, she has been doing a variety of animal-related education programs in her professional life for over 20 years. In June of 2020, Joy started her company The Joys of Nature doing Nature, Nature Travel and Live Animal programs for all ages, including programs for senior centers, libraries, camps and schools. Until June of 2020, Joy was a Naturalist and Educator at Mass Audubon’s Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary for almost 14 years.
