June Artist of the Month is Caroline Buccino

Caroline Buccino is the library’s artist of the month for June. Whether working with florals, shells, printmaking, or collage, her art reflects an ongoing fascination with recreating the organic textures and movement found along the coast. Works on display are for sale.

Inspired by the coastal beauty of Cape Cod, Caroline Buccino creates vibrant mixed media artwork that celebrates texture, color, and the natural world. Her work moves fluidly between mediums — from abstract coastal collage and hand-pulled prints to sculptural floral pieces and oyster shell wreaths — always guided by the patterns and textures she discovers in nature.

Known for her signature 3D piped acrylic hydrangea pieces, Caroline creates richly layered floral works that capture both delicacy and dimension. She also creates commissioned “Forever Bouquets,” transforming meaningful wedding bouquets into lasting works of art that preserve memory through texture, color, and form.

Collage plays a central role throughout her work. Antique music paper is woven into many of her compositions alongside handmade collage papers created through gelli plate printing and linocut techniques. Resin is often used to unify these layers, adding depth and luminosity to each piece. Drawn to bold, joyful color palettes, Caroline’s work is designed to evoke a sense of warmth, nostalgia, and feel-good connection.

She holds a master’s degree in oboe performance from New England Conservatory and serves as Music Director and Arts Department Chair at Falmouth Academy, where she leads and inspires student musicians. This deep connection to music continues to inform her visual work, infusing it with a sense of rhythm, harmony, and movement.

Whether working with florals, shells, printmaking, or collage, her art reflects an ongoing fascination with recreating the organic textures and movement found along the coast.

In addition to original pieces, Caroline creates custom commissioned works and shares her art through her website Artbybuccino.com and at local art fairs throughout the summer. Caroline also teaches group classes, making art accessible and fun for everyone. Her next class is Monday, June 15 from 6–8 p.m. at Uva Wine Bar. Tickets are available on Eventbrite under “Studio After Hours.”
