April Artist of the Month

Watercolor artist Marian Shields Colman will be the featured artist through April 29th at the West Falmouth Library. Her work may be viewed during library hours; sales benefit the library and the artist.

Marian Shields Colman has been an artist and an art educator for more than 30 years. She has an MAE and has taught K-12 Visual Arts in Colorado and Massachusetts. Recently she retired as an instructor in the Art Education Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth where she taught Watercolor and mentored pre-service art education students. Marian’s love of watercolor began in 1988 when she studied with Jane A’Lee Heyerdahl at Cape Cod Community College. She is an active member of Cape Cod Waterworks Fine Art and exhibits her work at the Watershed Gallery in Cataumet. Marian’s interest lies in landscape painting, particularly plein-aire work.

This watercolor exhibition is titled “ South to North: The Capes of Massachusetts” and is an exploration of the artist’s love of the marshes, rivers, bogs and beaches of Cape Cod and Cape Ann.
