Cape Cod Theater Project Stage Talk

The West Falmouth Library in collaboration with the Cape Cod Theater Project will offer a session of Stage Talk on Tuesday, June 30 at 10 am. The playwright is Lucas Hnath and his play is Hilary and Clinton” which will be presented on July 2, 3 and 4th at Highfield Theater directed by Chay Yew. These modestly staged readings of the play instantaneously provide the playwright with invaluable information about their as-yet-produced work.

Lucas is a resident playwright at New Dramatists and is the recipient of the 2015 Whiting Award. His plays have been produced at Soho Rep, Actors Theater of Louisville and the Royal Court in London. His play, “The Christians”, will have its New York Premiere at Playwrights Horizon in 2015-16.

“Hilary and Clinton” will receive its World Premiere at Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago in Spring 2016. A synopsis of the play: Imagine that in an alternate universe, a woman named Hillary is trying to become president of a country called the United States of America. In a hotel room in New Hampshire in 2008, Hilary is poised to lose her last Primary Election. When her husband Bill arrives in the middle of the night to offer support, he turns the campaign upside down. Hnath’s Primary Election fantasy explores the extraordinary sacrifices one is willing to make in order to gain ultimate power.
