May Artist of the Month Jan Darcy

We are pleased to present our May Artist of the Month, Jan Darcy. Darcy works in acrylics and has been painting since 2017.
Jan Darcy’s family dates back to the Mayflower, with roots in Barnstable Village and West Barnstable. Growing up, her family visited the Cape in summer and those were the best times of all. Stories of ancestors, including a lighthouse keeper on the Vineyard and a blacksmith in the Village, shenanigans of aunts and uncles and myriad other relatives. These became the rich fabric of family history and the fodder for the art she now creates–images of the various Cape beaches (her rocks rock!), quirky sheds and structures, a catch of quahogs, breathtaking skies over land and sea, and any of the other distinctive visual treats that the Cape has to offer.
