Kanopy FAQs: 

How do you get to Kanopy Kids? 

To access Kanopy Kids, log in to your Kanopy account, then click Kids in the top-right corner of your homepage. Or, in the Kanopy mobile app, tap More at the bottom of the screen, then Go to Kanopy Kids. 

Who can use Kanopy? 

Kanopy can only be used by patrons with a library card issued by specific libraries. As a West Falmouth Public Library card holder, you are able to use Kanopy and access the Falmouth Public Library’s Kanopy content. 

How many play credits do Kanopy Kids titles use? 

Kanopy Kids titles don’t use play credits. You’ll have unlimited access to everything in the Kanopy Kids section. 

Can my child create their own Kanopy account? 

You must be at least 18 years old to have a Kanopy account. Users under the age of 18 must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian. 

If you’re sharing a Kanopy account with your child, you can use Kanopy on multiple devices simultaneously, so your child can use Kanopy Kids on one device while you use Kanopy on another device. 

How do I set up parental controls? 

With parental controls enabled, you’ll need to enter a PIN to exit Kanopy Kids or to watch content outside of the Kanopy Kids collection. Learn how to set up and manage parental controls below. 

How do I exit Kanopy Kids? 

In a browser: Select Exit Kids at the top-right of the Kanopy browser window. 

Do I need an internet connection to use Kanopy? You will either need to use cellular data or Wi-Fi to browse and to watch the title. Films and TV show episodes can’t be downloaded to your device. 

How can I watch only using Wi-Fi? Tap “More” in the menu and select “Settings.” Then switch the “Cellular Data” toggle off. 

How can I adjust the video quality? Tap “More” in the menu and select “Settings.” Then select “Video Quality” and tap “Auto” to play videos at the highest quality possible. 

How do I enable closed captions (CC) or subtitles? While watching the title, tap the speech bubble in the upper right corner of your screen. Then select an available language. Some titles might not offer CC or sub-titles. 

I set up my Kanopy account using my Google login. How do I access my account on my Fire tablet? 

Your Google login is not supported on Amazon devices, so you’ll need to add a password to your account. To add a password, log in to your account from a web browser, select your name in the top-right corner, then select “My Account.” Select “Edit” to add your password. You can also request a password reset from the Kanopy app login screen. 

Using Kanopy’s parental controls 

With Kanopy’s parental controls enabled, your child will only be able to view titles in Kanopy Kids. To exit Kanopy Kids or watch videos outside of Kanopy Kids, you’ll need to enter a four-digit PIN. 

To set up parental controls 

Log in to your Kanopy account from a web or mobile browser. Go to My Account and select Parental Controls. Enter a four-digit PIN and select Turn On. We recommend using an original PIN that doesn’t include any part of your address, phone number, or other number that your child might guess. 

Parental controls can only be managed from a browser, though your PIN will be required to exit Kanopy Kids from any device. 

To disable your PIN 

1. Go to Parental Controls and enter your PIN. 

2. Select Turn Off. 

To reset your PIN 

1. Go to Parental Controls and select Forgot PIN? 

2. Select Send. Directions for resetting your PIN will be sent to the email address associated with your Kanopy account. 

A Forgot PIN link will be available across all devices, but you can only reset your PIN through a browser. If you’re using the Kanopy app, the link in the email will redirect you to the Kanopy website.
