Right before the library’s initial closure in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the library displayed a collection of shadowboxes created by the late Vincent C. Zavorskas. His wife, Carla, loaned this collection to the West Falmouth Library in Vincent’s memory, so that others could enjoy his life’s work. Carla has once again graciously permitted us to share her husband’s artwork online with the community. We hope you enjoy this sampling of these unique and whimsical shadowboxes from this talented and much-missed artist and invite you to visit the entire collection when we re-open.

“Adored by all who knew him, Vincent Zavorskas studied at the Paier College of Art in Hamden, CT after he got out of the United States Coast Guard. In the early 1970s, Vinnie got some wood carving tools and began to do wildlife carvings and painting; so he was basically self-taught. Several years ago, he began making shadow boxes and enjoyed this new medium. For over 29 years, he had a woodcarving class at the Falmouth Senior Center, where he shared his love of the craft.”
