The next time you are visiting the Library, stop by the Nina Heald Webber display cases (on the upper floor near the stairwell) to view the whimsical art of the late Vincent Zavorskas, who lived in West Falmouth with his wife Carla. His woodcarvings and paintings will be on display throughout September.
Vincent Zavorskas studied at the Paier College of Art in Hamden, Connecticut, after he got out of the US Coast Guard. In the early 1970s, Vinnie got some wood carving tools and began to do wildlife carvings and paintings; he was basically self-taught.
Several years ago, he began making shadow boxes and enjoyed this new medium. For over 29 years, he had a woodcarving class at the Falmouth Service Center, where he shared his love of the craft.
Also on view is a collection of some of his nature painting.
Vinnie was a West Falmouth resident. He was adored by all who knew him. His wife, Carla, loaned this collection to the Library in Vincent’s memory, so that others could enjoy his life’s work.
