Street of Scarecrows

This Halloween month, Main Street is transformed into the Street of Scarecrows! Dozens of unique, handcrafted scarecrows are lining the street. West Falmouth Library’s entry is in front of Soft as a Grape. Please stop by and say hello to our “Founding Mother”, crafted by Violet Strickland, a student at FHS and the daughter of our Acting Executive Director Allison Strickland. The scarecrow represents the five young women who formed the Young People’s Union in West Falmouth in the 1870s, later developing the first incarnation of West Falmouth Library.

Thank you to Violet for her hard work and creativity, and to College Light Opera Company for our gal’s garb! And thank you to Falmouth Village Association for organizing such a cool and fun community event. Make sure to vote for your favorite scarecrows by scanning the QR codes on Main Street, via the link in the bio at the FVA Instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/falmouthvillagema/
