The All Worn Out Jug Band in Concert
The Cape’s own All Worn Out Jug Band is celebrating 25 years as a group this year! West Falmouth Library is pleased to host the Jug Band in concert on Sunday, May 4th at 4pm. Tickets are $20; purchase below.
There is something unique about The All Worn Out Jug Band. In addition to being part of the “Post-Modern” Jug Band Movement, this group performs eclectic sets that include Jug Band classics, interwoven with American roots music from traditional folk to country, blues and gospel. As with many accomplished Jug Bands, you can expect to hear a washboard, kazoos, whistles, and of course, a jug–a full complement of strings, including guitar, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle, banjo, and concertina. The Band has been performing on Cape Cod since 2000 playing festivals and gigs throughout the Cape, Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts. Their 2008 and 2019 CDs have been played on WUMB (Boston) and they’ve played live on WOMR (Provincetown).
It is hard to believe that the band is getting ready to celebrate its 25th year of performing. Having finished up a Pro-Democracy Tour, they look forward to performing their greatest hits. They are very much a band in the folk tradition of The Weavers, Bob Dylan, and of course Jim Kweskin and Geoff Muldaur. The Band creates unique arrangements to take advantage of the group’s multi-instrumentalists, including Gregory Baird on ukelele, banjo, washboard, composer; Kevin Howard on guitar and mandolin; Mary Loebig on bass; and Rev Edmund Robinson on banjo, fiddle, concertina, jug. They also have a rotating group of guitarists, including Tim Dickey, Bruce MacLean and Tim Sweeney.
