Song Circle

Welcome to Song Circle! This friendly, supportive group of musicians gathers twice monthly at 6:30pm in the West Falmouth Library Community Room–the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. Over the course of each two to three hour session, participants perform three or four songs.

Most performances are self-accompanied vocals (guitar, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle, etc.), some are a cappella, some instrumental, and all must be acoustic (without amplification). A wonderful piano is available in the room as well. Skill levels from beginner to professional are welcome and equally appreciated. A minimum $5.00 donation to the library is requested for each attendee. Join us on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

For questions email Dave Knaack or Dan Warncke.

What to Expect at the Song Circle

As a Performer, come ready to perform three to four songs. You can expect an attentive audience of respectful and supportive listeners.

  • Have your instrument in tune before your turn begins.
  • You will have the floor for a maximum of 5 minutes per turn, including introductory remarks.
    • Avoid long songs. If you have a song with many verses, leave a few off.
    • If you feel the need to present something longer, offer to skip your turn in another round.
  • If you would like the audience to sing along with you or take solos or jam, invite them.
  • Talking between songs is encouraged, but be mindful that you are using up other people’s performance minutes.

As Listeners We are here to enjoy distraction-free performances by our fellow musicians, and to give the performer our full attention and support.

  • Avoid distracting either the performer or the other listeners.
    • Many performers find it difficult to do their best when someone else sings or plays over them- so don’t.
    • If you are not familiar with the song being performed, under no circumstance should you attempt playing along.
    • Unless specifically invited by the performer, don’t play (or noodle on) your instrument while they perform -even if you know the song.
  • A non-disruptive, accomplished, harmony or tasteful lick during breaks between verses or lines will be appreciated if done well.
