Dear WFL Community,
One of the few benefits of all the winter weather has been plenty of time to stay inside and read. I recently finished Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor, a deftly constructed novel exploring AI and automatism. Okorafor weaves together two story lines, one contemporary and one in a post-apocalyptic near future, for a story within a story. It’s an interesting take on how machine learning mirrors humanity.
With six children under seventeen between our administrative staff, we also have recommendations for our younger readers. My nine year old has been devouring The Witches of Brooklyn graphic novel series. Allison’s twelve year old recommends Tress of the Emerald Sea. Becky’s ten year old recently checked out the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
How about you? Reply to this email to share what you’ve been reading lately, the WFL team is always looking for great reads.
Thank you for being part of our community of readers.
Molly
P.S. Did you know that in addition to browsing our shelves, you can order books from the 38 CLAMS consortium libraries to pick up at your West Falmouth Library? It’s true! You can either request books online or we can place the request for you here.
